About the Midwest Division

Who We Are

The Midwest Division of CommonSpirit Health is a regional health care network with a unified mission: nurturing the healing ministry of the Church, while creating healthier communities. With its national office in Chicago, IL, CHI Health Midwest includes communities in Southwest Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota and North Dakota. 

CommonSpirit Health is a nonprofit, Catholic health system dedicated to advancing health for all people. It was created in February 2019 through the alignment of Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health. 

The Midwest Division has about 12,500 employees and 4,122 employed physicians and advanced practice clinicians.

In Fiscal Year 2022, the Midwest Division invested more than $265.3 million back into our communities. Most of those dollars went to caring for the poor and underserved.

Our Location and Services

CommonSpirit stands for our people, excellence and our future. Our combined organization consists of one Academic Medical Center, 28 acute care hospitals,  200 Clinic locations, 18 critical access hospitals, two free-standing behavioral health facilities, one  center for the developmentally disabled and one home health agency.
