Low Vision
- Have you ever had a hard time reading written or printed material?
- Do you have a difficult time seeing your medications or missing food on your plate?
- Do you feel like you miss items right in front of you when searching?
- Have you felt frustrated you couldn’t complete something due to your vision?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions and are living with low vision, daily tasks like reading, household tasks, community mobility and social participation could be extremely difficult. With CHI Health’s outpatient visual rehabilitation, we help individuals with low vision maintain their independence and increase their quality of life.
Low vision diagnoses
Diagnoses treated include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and stroke, in addition to low vision (less than 20/40 in one or both eyes). We can teach you to read, cook, use preferred technology, manage medications and more. We recommend changes to your living and working environments and offer rehabilitation strategies to reduce your visual challenges.
What to expect from your visit
Your visit might take up to two hours. It will include an interview, vision testing, and initial treatment and information related to your goals. Depending on your needs, there might be one or two follow-up sessions to help maximize your rehabilitation. Together, we will work as a team to determine the most appropriate devices and techniques to help you regain your quality of life.
