Outpatient Care

The mission of our team of experts at CHI Health Mental Health Services and Psychiatric Associates is to treat you as a whole person: body, mind and spirit.  We seek to help each individual handle life’s challenges by re-establishing positive relationships, using new coping skills at home and at work and developing a stronger sense of self. Specialty trained mental health professionals offer a wide array of outpatient mental health services including psychiatric testing, medication management, traditional therapy, drug and alcohol testing and treatment to get people get back on the road to mental wellness.

For children, adolescents and their families this service provides therapy to help the client to lead a healthier life physically, emotionally and spiritually. Treated holistically, family dysfunction will improve and symptoms will decrease. 

A multidisciplinary team offers specialized services for child and adolescents at various outpatient locations. Psychiatrists lead the team delivering a variety of services, including play therapy, family therapy, and evaluations. Treatment modalities include individual, group, marital, family, psychopharmacological and others based on individual assessments. 

Patients may be referred to community support groups to assist with self-reliance and learn additional life skills. Communications with referral sources will occur with permission of the client.

For persons experiencing mental health issues that are disrupting interpersonal, family or work life, we provide short-term, problem-focused therapy services or recommend longer courses of treatment for clients requiring additional assistance in achieving stabilization. Treatment modalities include individual, group, marital, family, psychopharmacological and others based on individual assessment. The treatment goal is to restore and stabilize the client to his or her previous level of functioning. 

In therapy, clients learn improved life skills to promote their mental health and wellness. Often, clients are able to maintain their mental health without continuous follow-up. Some clients may be referred to community support groups to be more self-reliant and learn additional life skills.

The team may include physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists (when indicated), therapists, client and significant others, as appropriate.

Child/Adolescent

This program assists children or adolescents with substance abuse disorders who do not require more intensive services, and their families to lead a healthier life physically, emotionally and spiritually. With a holistic treatment approach, family dysfunction will decrease and symptoms will improve.

Treatment modalities include individual, group, marital, family, psychopharmacological and others based on individual assessments.

Outpatient

This service is for any individual with chemical dependency issues seeking long-term abstinence and resolution of underlying issues. It provides the level of care needed develop an individualized treatment plan based on the needs of the patient and significant others. Through individual and/or group therapy, patients will clearly understand the precipitating factors for personal alcohol and drug abuse issues. They will explore abstinence-centered alternatives, become familiar with community support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and/or Narcotics Anonymous, improve coping skills, demonstrate the ability to remain abstinent and gain a greater insight into their personal spirituality.

Outpatient Continued Care

This service bridges the gap between the treatment program and the self-help community for clients who have successfully completed a chemical dependency program.  The treatment team of physician, nurse, therapist and client provides coordination and referral of community resources.

Outpatient Relapse

As part of chemical dependency treatment, all clients receive relapse prevention treatment. Clients having difficulty maintaining or obtaining abstinence receive intensive relapse focus. Treatment involves recognition of high-risk situations and development of management strategies, a sobriety support system and a relapse prevention plan. Clients may be referred to a more intense level of treatment, psychotherapeutic counseling, other sobriety support systems or community agencies.

Intervention Counseling

This service provides the family, friends and employers of addicted individuals with knowledge and understanding of the addictive process and its detrimental effects on their own lives. An initial assessment with family, friends and perhaps even employers determines the treatment plan. The treatment team includes physician, therapist and significant others.
