Since 1996, Community Olympics has been a summertime staple in Kearney, uniting friends and co-workers for a weekend full of activity, competition and fun. The fourth Friday, Saturday and Sunday in June is filled with teams participating in more than 20 events like table tennis, archery, lip sync, tug-of-war and volleyball. Teams, first 40 to enter consisting of 10-30 participants ages 18 and older, compete for the gold concluding with a family-style barbecue to announce medal and trophy winners. Cost is $30 per person which includes a team t-shirt.
Entry packets will be available at the Kearney Park and Recreation office, 2005 1st Ave, Kearney, NE.

Stroke Transitions Group; Providing Support & Education
This group is designed to promote health and healing following a stroke for both the caregiver and survivor. Participants will be provided with education, support and networking opportunities.

Our Survivorship 101 program for cancer survivors is a free 9-week, 12 session holistic rehabilitation program is taught by specially trained nurses and mental health practitioners. This program is designed to help individuals regain their physical, emotional and spiritual health after cancer treatment - in a small, supportive group setting. For anyone interested in quitting tobacco, CHI Health St. Francis offers "Freedom from Smoking" a free tobacco cessation class at the hospital. For more than 30 years, this leading American Lung Association tobacco cessation program shows participants how to quit tobacco — for good — in a small and supportive group setting. The class meets for a seven-week series, three times a year. After registration you will be contacted about exact dates and times. Finding good support while you are breastfeeding is often the key to a successful experience. Find that support at "Eat at Mom’s," a free open-house breastfeeding support group that meets at CHI Health St. Francis. Receive hands-on breastfeeding assistance from the hospital’s lactation nurses and learn from and network with other mothers. Additionally, St. Francis offers a ‘Preparing for Breastfeeding" class every other month. Call (308) 398-6595 to register.
CHI Health St. Francis Stroke Support Group focuses on health and healing following a stroke. The group meets at the hospital every other month and provides support, education and networking opportunities.
