Mental illness doesn't have any demographics. It doesn't have any socio-economic boundaries. Mental illness can affect anyone. At Lasting Hope Recovery Center, patients find comfort and a team of caring professionals working for them.

The environment is designed around the psychiatric needs of the patient. The psychiatric assessment center is truly the front door. It is a place where people in crisis can come and find help. They walk in from the street. They come from home or the doctor's office. Police can bring patients in; they may even come from other hospitals. The job at Lasting Hope is to find out why a patient is here - what brought them to this point.

A 64-bed adult psychiatric facility, Lasting Hope Recovery Center is a place of healing. All of the rooms are private. Our team of experts cares for those patients who have nobody to turn to. They understand what it feels like to not be able to get out of bed in the morning or not be able to put down that last drink. They understand the pain that is often indescribable.

You won't find the stereotypical white walls, bars on the windows, and plastic furniture. You will find a calm, peaceful place designed to help in healing. There is a chapel area for patients to meditate or pray. There are internal courtyards so you can take in the fresh air. All patients are encouraged to spend time with one another.

At CHI Health Lasting Hope Recovery Center:

Treatment

Often times, mental illness and substance abuse occur at the same time. The Lasting Hope Recovery Center offers an entire range of treatment and prevention services to meet the needs of patients experiencing both challenges. Treatment is built on personal strengths and support systems that treat individuals experiencing these illnesses.

The Lasting Hope Recovery Center uses a Trauma Informed Care model to provide for the immediate needs of those in crisis. The center follows a multi-occurring treatment model, meaning that patients with a mental illness and a substance abuse diagnosis will have both addressed within their treatment plan. The center also incorporates evidence-based practices, such as Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) and Peer Support Specialists.

The Assessment Center

The Assessment Center at Lasting Hope Recovery Center provides crisis intervention services for individuals of all ages who present or call in a psychiatric emergency. Staffed with psychiatric trained nurses, the patient, family or referral source can be assured of timely, supportive interventions at the appropriate level of care. The Assessment Center responds to the psychiatric crisis line. It also serves as the after-hours call center for our outpatient clinics. The center determines a level of care and coordinates admissions to the appropriate service or program. All individuals who contact the Assessment Center will be offered recommendations and treatment options. The Assessment Center will facilitate the acquisition of all emergent services.

Client

Adults who present with or call in a psychiatric emergency.

Hours

24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Service Goal

To help individuals with emergency psychiatric concerns to obtain appropriate services.

Follow-up Care

All individuals who contact the Assessment Center will be offered recommendations and treatment options. The Assessment Center will facilitate the acquisition of all emergent services.

Treatment Team

The Assessment Center is staffed by Lasting Hope psychiatric nursing staff. There is a psychiatrist available for consultation regarding assessments.

Parking

Patient and visitor parking are available for your convenience near the main entrance of the center. If your car will remain in the parking lot for an extended amount of time, please inform a staff member.

Visitors

Visitors are limited to 1 person per visit unless other arrangements have been authorized by your therapist or the unit nurse manager. Visiting hours are 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on weekends. All visitors must sign in at the reception desk in the front lobby and place all personal belongings in a locked storage cabinet prior to proceeding to the unit.

Personal Belongings and Valuables

Patients are encouraged to bring enough clothes for three days. Shoes should be slip-on or Velcro closure whenever possible. Clothing that has offensive words, pictures or themes as well as hats and sunglasses are prohibited.

Because valuable items can be lost or stolen, Lasting Hope Recovery Center encourages patients not to wear or keep valuable jewelry in their possession. There is no need to bring more than $5 to the center as there is little that can be purchased and there is no charge for local phone calls.

Cell phones and laptops are prohibited. A doctor's order is required for use of an I-pod or radio. Paper and a writing instrument will be provided upon request. To preserve the confidentiality of all our patients, no cameras, camera enabled cell phones or voice recording devices are allowed on the units.

Phone Calls

There are two patient phones on each unit where calls may be made and received throughout the day.

Patient Telephone Numbers:

Each patient will be given a unique code that informs staff the patient has authorized an individual to receive information, including that the patient is at Lasting Hope Recovery Center as well as their general status. Detailed healthcare information will be provided to others only with a specific release of information executed by the patient or guardian.

Unit patient telephones will be turned off during group therapy. For all other information, call our administrative number at (402) 717-5300 and you will be directed to the appropriate staff member for assistance.

Tobacco Use

The Lasting Hope Recovery Center is a tobacco free campus. Use of cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco or other tobacco products and associated items (lighters, matches, etc.) are prohibited on campus. Smoking cessation aids are available as prescribed by your attending physician.

Food Service

Visitors may bring food onto the unit, however it must be in a factory-sealed package and consumed during the visit. Beverages must be sealed and caffeine free. Patients may not order take-out food to be delivered to the center. For your convenience, a cafeteria is located on the lower level. Vending machines are available when the cafeteria is closed.
