Maternity Center at CUMC - Bergan Mercy

CHI Health Maternity Center at Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy has an experienced staff specializes in warm welcomes to expectant mothers. We are familiar with firsts. As the first maternity service established in Omaha, CUMC - Bergan Mercy is thoroughly experienced in all deliveries, including complicated and high-risk pregnancies.

Comfort and Care

All our nurses are highly skilled to handle all your needs, including lactation. We strongly promote breastfeeding and will support your needs. We have highly-trained Postpartum nurses, Certified Lactation Counselors and Lactation Consultants to meet your individual needs when it comes to breastfeeding success. And a state-of-the-art security system gives you assurance that you and your infant are secure.

Various forms of pain management, including nitrous oxide, are available at CUMC - Bergan Mercy to relieve your pain during labor.  

We were also the area's first to renovate our birthing rooms into comfortable bedroom-like suites. Each suite includes a sofa, rocking chair, TV, DVD, wireless internet access (Wi-fi), refrigerator, and bathroom. We strongly encourage rooming in with your baby to promote bonding. If at any time you need your baby in the nursery, we will accommodate your request.

The Maternity Center at CUMC - Bergan Mercy has been designated a Safe Sleep Hospital Champion by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Note to patients and visitors: to increase the security of the Maternity Center-Pavilion entrance, we will be securing the front doors on the lobby level at 9:00 p.m. Visitors and patients will push the security button, security will respond via intercom and doors will be unlocked if appropriate.

NICU

Our Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) can handle babies who need a little extra help, or are extremely premature. A perinatologist is available for high-risk pregnancies, and our anesthesiology services and physicians provide 24-hour in-house coverage.

OB Emergency Room

CUMC Bergan Mercy has a seven bed obstetrical emergency room.  The obstetrical emergency department allows for timely and specialized care focused on expecting moms by a team of nurses and OB providers. Patient who are greater than 20 weeks can be seen in the OB ED rather than the general emergency room and evaluated for any number of complaints or to rule out labor. Providers are in house 24/7 as well as an interdisciplinary skilled team ready to provide the needed care to expecting families.  

Maternity Center Tours

Join us for a free maternity center tour designed for expectant parents to become familiar with our award-winning care and what to expect upon arrival at our hospital for the delivery of your baby. You will tour the facilities, including a labor and delivery room and a postpartum room.  

Meet in the lobby of the pavilion - near the maternity entrance - at the designated time. Register online for a tour time.
