CHI Health St. Elizabeth Recognized for Excellence in Emergency Nursing
CHI Health St. Elizabeth’s emergency department has been selected as a recipient of the Emergency Nurses Association’s 2024 Lantern Award for demonstrating excellence in leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research performance.
The Lantern Award showcases CHI Health St. Elizabeth’s emergency department’s accomplishments in incorporating evidence-based practice and innovation into emergency care. As part of the application, EDs are encouraged to share stories that highlight a commitment to patient care, as well as the well-being of nursing staff.
“This award represents the excellence and ongoing dedication of the ED team, nurses, technicians, physicians, providers and leadership,” said Stacy Cerio, Director, Emergency Care Services. “Accomplishments like this are made possible through constant engagement, learning and teamwork. The St. Elizabeth ED registered nurses have an extremely low employee turnover rate. This is a testament to the culture of the department and the quality of the care provided each day.”
The CHI Health St. Elizabeth Emergency Department is:
- Providing patients with timely care with wait times that are shorter than the state’s average
- Magnet designated, representing the highest standard of nursing
- The only pediatric-focused ED in Lincoln and the first in Nebraska to be certified in Pediatric Readiness, a national initiative put forth to optimize outcomes for children in need of ED care
- Recognized by the American Heart Association “Get with Guidelines Gold Plus” for stroke care
- A designated Level III Trauma Center
- The only geriatric accredited emergency department in Lincoln through the American College of Emergency Physicians
CHI Health St. Elizabeth’s Lantern Award will be on display in the emergency department. As a recipient, CHI Health St. Elizabeth will be recognized in upcoming ENA publications, on the ENA website and during Emergency Nursing 2024, the association’s annual conference in Las Vegas, Sept. 4-7.
